Cool-er verdict: Pocket-lint says save your money

Pocket-lint checks in with a review of the Cool-er reader, available for pre-order here in the states at Cool-er's website for $249. At $249, it had best be a great device, since you can buy the more mainstream Kindle, nook or several Sony models for a few bucks more.

A glance at the specs shows that for your $10 savings you miss out on wireless WiFi or 3G, get 8 shades of grey from a e-Ink display when 16 shades is rapidly becoming the norm but on the plus side it's available in 8 different colors and weighs barely more than 6 ounces. Adobe lists the device as compatible with Adobe Digital Editions, so you can purchase content from third party sellers such as Kobo or Sony.

From the review:

They appreciated the lightweight nature of the device, but not the cheap plastic. One of their review units lost a screw and they were concerned about long term durability. Loading content is done solely through USB, and the file format is impressive: PDF, EPUB, FB2, RTF, TXT, HTML, PRC, JPG and MP3. No AAC support, so tunes bought from Apple won't play, and also there's a 2.5mm not 3.5mm jack included - although an adapter is in the box.

They recommend getting a more robust unit and I couldn't disagree based on what I've read so far.
