Want a nook today and not interested in dealing with eBay or long wait times with Barnes and Noble? Look no further than Amazon.com (no really).
There are as of this posting 5 nooks available between the price of $400 and $600 new - but be forewarned, these are not sold by Amazon, but rather some of their resellers - and I can't speak for their integrity having never heard of any of them.
The markups are pretty high at 50% to 240% - and seem a bit higher than many of the auctions I've noticed on eBay.
I would expect the huge markups on nook's to disappear over the next few months (weeks?) as at some point everyone who really, really wanted one badly enough to pay a premium already pre-ordered (and received) one.
