In what is clearly a rumor (or rumour depending on which side of the pond you're on), Business Insider is stating that the Apple Tablet will have 3G and will be on Verizon Wireless here in the States, with a US carrier still being sought.
Speaking not on behalf of all iPhone users, but on behalf of many - throngs of us will line up at the thought of having an Apple powered mobile device not tied to AT&T. Especially when it's a tablet, and therefore the network's limitation on voice and data being used simultaneous isn't really an issue!
