Take a poke around the Barnes and Noble store from your nook - you will not find any mention of whether a book is a pre-order or not. In fact, you might stand in a Barnes and Noble store on the Upper West Side of New York City (as I did today), see a book on display (as I did today), check the price on your nook (as I did today), click the buy button (as I did today) and then realize after your transaction is done that you aren't getting the book until May (as I did today).
It's okay to offer pre-orders - in fact, I prefer it to just failing to find books on an eReader store when you know they are in print. But to fail to disclose the status is shameful. It's clearly indicated on their web site, and should be clearly indicated on my nook.
