KindleReview conjecture on Kindle 3 possibilities

KindleReview has an interesting opinion piece on Kindle 3 possibilities. He sees three scenarios - all of his ideas are interesting, although I'm not sure I agree with all of them.

Scenario 1: Kindle 3 announced towards the end of February.

I'm not so sure. While the Kindle 2 is getting near it's first birthday, they recently did a minor revision to it - adding international support and lowering the price. The Kindle DX is imminently being released with the same treatment.

Scenario 2: Kindle 3 announced end of Summer, Pixel Qi screen.
Scenario 3: Fall 2010 release of a Mirasol powered Kindle.

I lopped these together since quite simply: I don't see it happening. I think there's a lot of new screen technology coming on the market and it's going to revolutionize the industry, but the manufacturing will not and cannot ramp up in time. I'd love to be wrong, however, and see Pixel Qi or Mirasol ship in mass quantity before the end of 2010.

That said, many of his ideas for features in Kindle 3 are interesting. He's right, in that you won't see all of them (or even most of them), but I think we're all waiting to see what Amazon's response is to devices like Que, Skiff, nook, Sony Reader Daily Edition, Alex and half a dozen other interesting form factors.
