For starters, they found that 30% of survey respondents would wait up to three months to purchase an eBook edition of a book. Some other interesting facts:
- Approximately 20% of respondents stopped purchasing print books within 12 months of acquiring an eReader.
- Most respondents prefer to have access to their content on multiple platforms. Men were more likely than women to reject DRM-laden books.
- The Kindle is by far the most popular of the dedicated eReaders.
The data came from 36,000 potential panelists who responded to surveys about their book purchasing behavior (print books). Of those, 868 were identified as people who had purchased an eBook or owned an eReader, or approximately 2%. There's obviously a lot of room for growth left in the industry!
